What does Intelli-Hood cost?
The cost of the Intelli-Hood controls, including installation, depends on the size of the fan and whether the job is new construction or retrofit.

What information is needed to generate an equipment price?
We would need the number of hoods, hood configuration (i.e. Wall, island, etc), number and size of exhaust collars on each hood, and fan information (hp, voltage, and approximate distance from hoods).

Can I install these controls on an existing location?
Yes, we can install the controls as either new construction or retrofit to existing hoods.

If installing as a retrofit, how long does it take?
A general rule of thumb is that two hoods can be retrofitted in one night by two people.

How many hoods will the Intelli-Hood control?
Each Intelli-Hood i/o processor can control up to four fans.

Will the Intelli-Hood work with single-phase motors?
No, the fan must be three-phase, but we can replace your single-phase fans if needed.

What if i don't have three-phase power on site?
We can take a 115v or 230v single-phase input through our variable frequency drives (vfds) and convert it to 208v three-phase. These are special drives, and we are limited to 1-1/2 hp on the 115v input.

Can the Intelli-Hood be integrated with a building management system?
Yes, we can provide a 0-10v signal from each fan and the average of all the fans.

Does the Intelli-Hood control the MUAnit as well?
Yes, we will modulate the MUA unit as an average of the exhaust fans.

How do you go to market?
We sell the controls through the major hood manufacturers for new construction, and for retrofit applications we generally sell them direct or through reps. We also work closely with food service consultants during design phases of new construction or remodels.

What keeps the optic sensors within the hood from getting dirty?
Each optic sensor enclosure has a purge fan that keeps the environment inside the enclosure under a positive air pressure. This prevents contaminated air from entering the sensor unit.

Must I have direct drive fans installed to be compatible with the controls?
No. However, if the fans need to be replaced in a retrofit application, it is a good idea to consider replacing belt-drive fans with direct drive equivalents.
