The objective of this study was to evaluate the Melink Intelli-Hood Controls demand ventilation control (DVC) package that was installed on the commercial kitchen ventilation (CKV) system in a supermarket in Northern California.
The Intelli-Hood controls were installed at the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon. With 16 hoods controlled by 14 Melink Systems, the institue is saving $130 per hood, per month. Overall, the Intell-Hood controls are saving the school $25,000 a year.
The Intelli-Hood Controls were installed in an Applebee's located near Los Angeles, California. In an independent energy analysis done by Fisher Nickel, Inc., the controls were found to reduce the restaurant's fan energy use by more than two-thirds, saving 43 kWh/day.
The Intelli-Hood Controls were installed in a Cub Foods located near Chicago, Illinois. Before the installation, the fans at full speed all day long. Now, the fans typically run between 30% to 80% and the supermarket is saving more than $2,000 per year in motor operating and air conditioning costs. Due to this remarkable success, the Intelli-Hood controls have been installed in 15 Cub Foods stores.
The Intelli-Hood Controls were installed in a Culver's located in Sauk City, Wisconsin. The controls saved the restaurant nearly $2,000 a year in energy costs, while also improving kitchen comfort, noise levels and fire safety conditions.
