Melink Makes INC 5000 for Third Consecutive Year
Melink Corporation made the INC 5000 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S. for the third year in a row! The company went from #3699 in 2008 to #3554 in 2009, and is in the top 100 among U.S. energy companies.
When asked what has brought the company success despite the bleak economy, President Steve Melink said, "Our continued growth is a reflection of the high quality people we have on staff. Everyone's passion, commitment, and work ethic is second to none."
Milford Company's "Green Building" Draws Worldwide Attention
People have traveled from all over the world to see something right here in the Tri-state.
It's the Melink Corporation's "Green" building in Milford.
There are two levels – including an office space, meeting room and a warehouse at the Melink Corporation, but it only costs the owner about a thousand dollars a month to heat and light the 30,000 square foot building.
"I'm so fanatical about it, I can't wait to get our energy bill every month to see how much we're improving," said Steve Melink...

Cincinnati USA companies racking up local, national awards
A number of local leaders and companies have been recognized recently for their success over the past year.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has named three Cincinnati companies – Abstract Displays, Bramkamp Printing Co. Inc. and Libertas Technologies – winners of the 2009 Blue Ribbon Small Business Award. In addition, for the second year in a row, Abstract Displays has been named the Great Lakes Regional Finalist for the U.S. Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award.
The future is green
From Whole Foods and
Bank of America to United
Technologies and Honda
to Google and BP, many of
the world’s most successful
companies are going green. They realize
that making money in the present and
doing the right thing for the future is an
idea whose time has come.
Welcome to the
green economy. Are
you getting ready for
it? Whether you know
it or not, a whole new
generation of customers
is demanding that you
become part of the
solution. Those who
don’t will go the way of the buggy-whip,
typewriter, (and hopefully incandescent
light bulb).
The Wind May Hold Energy and Ohio Jobs
CINCINNATI - Steve Melink, on a mission to make his Melink Corp.'s building here a showpiece of energy efficiency, watches a U.S. flag flutter in the wind outside and sees a missed opportunity. "I want that wind to work for us," said Melink, who is installing the first low-speed Aventa wind turbine in North America. Designed by a Swiss aerospace engineer, the 60-foot Aventa turbine has three oversized fan blades and can generate electricity with wind speeds as low as 4 mph versus the 8 to 10 mph required for most small-scale wind machines.
Variable-Speed Hood Controllers Quickly Cut Kitchen Energy Consumption
When looking for the "low hanging fruit" in a hotel - those areas that offer the easiest and fastest opportunities to save energy - one piece of equipment that is often forgotten is the kitchen exhaust hood.
Kitchen Hoods Using Demand Ventilation
Today’s kitchen ventilation systems are about more than
heat and smoke removal, fire protection, and lowest first
cost. Food-service establishment owners and operators have
become more sophisticated and demanding, so they want systems
that are more energy efficient and require less maintenance.
In addition, they want kitchens to be more comfortable
while complying with more stringent indoor air quality standards.
Finally, owners and operators want reduced noise levels
and improved fire safety.
New Products relating to Commercial Kitchen Ventilation
This month we are going to examine three products. They are Melink Corp’s Intelli-hoodtm Operator, Avtec
Industries InVenttm hood, and finally Safe-T-Nettm .
Commercial kitchen ventilation (CKV) remains one of the most expensive components of any food
service operation. Ineffective systems are not only wasteful, but also dangerous. For these reasons
two new products herald a new age of CKV, where systems are designed to match both the
application, and the operators variable loading and menu.
Congress could stimulate a local BUSINESS BOOM
Ken Jones wonders if money
from Congress’ proposed $800
billion stimulus plan could
bring to life projects that have
been sidelined for years.
New buildings planned by
Three Rivers School District
and Norwood City Schools
were approved by the state, designed
and awarded to Jones’
Turner Construction in 2001
and 2004. But local bond issues
for construction never passed,
letting blueprints collect dust.
Rebalance Your Short-Circuit Hoods and Save 300 Percent in Fan Energy
If you formerly bought or presently buy shortcircuit
hoods, this article is for you.
Short-circuit hoods made sense many years
ago, when prescriptive codes required that you
exhaust 100 cfm per square foot of open area
for a wall canopy hood. Many people realized
this high exhaust rate might make sense for a
hood serving a broiler but that it was overkill for
most hoods serving lighter-duty cooking appliances.

Ohio EPA to Change How it Regulates Small Air Pollution Sources
In May 2006, Governor Taft signed Senate Bill 265
(S.B. 265) into law. This law
requires Ohio EPA to change
how it regulates small air
pollution sources. The
changes require Ohio EPA to
write regulations to address
the following areas.
